A Little About Me

My name is Carly Youngless, and I am the founder and primary teacher at Carly's Corner.  I was raised in an Air Force family, so I have lived in Alabama, Germany, England, and Illinois.  I graduated High School in 2003 from Mascoutah High School.  I attended University at Southern Illinois University in Edwardsville from 2003-2006 and transferred to McKendree University when my son Tommy was born in March of 2006. In 2008, I received my Bachelors of Science in Computer Science from McKendree University.  I worked for the Department of Defense on Scott Air Force Base as an IT Specialist from 2005-2006 and as a Network Design Engineer from 2008-2011.  My daughter Lilly was born in March of 2011.

While I enjoyed my work with computers, I felt that working full-time year round was taking too much time away from my family.  When I stopped working, I started filling my time with volunteer work.  I was the treasurer for the New Baden PTO from 2013-2015.  I was the Den Leader for my son's Cub Scout Den from 2013-2017, and I was the Troop Leader for my daughter's Girl Scout Troop from 2017-2022.  My husband Matt and I have coached soccer in New Baden.  I was the volunteer Librarian at New Baden Elementary School from 2016-2020.  I am currently the Administrative Coordinator for Wesclin Robotics and the Treasurer for the Wesclin Band Parent Organization.  In February of 2013, I decided to use my college degree to become a substitute teacher.  I have been teaching in the Wesclin school district for over 5 years, and my favorite place to teach is in the Pre-K classroom.  I love spending time with children, helping them learn through play, and watching them build social connections.

After teaching at the school for short and long term periods, I decided to open my own preschool.  I have taken Early Childhood Education Courses though Illinois Gateway of Opportunities, and I have received my license to care for children through DCFS.
